This was always going to happen sooner or later.
You don't put the world's most successful franchise in the hands of the most money-grubbing developer around, and not see them iterate on it as fast as possible.
To that end, in a recent quarter-earnings call, EA's Blake Jorgensen stated, "We'll most likely have one Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years" before adding "Next
year we’ll see Star Wars Battlefront back with bigger and better
worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the
historical movies that we used before."
This fairly heavily
implies that Episode VII, VIII and IX content will be added either as
DLC or full games, depending on how fast it can be rendered and
implemented, if not Rogue One and the Han Solo prequel flick's planets
and iconography, too.
However, the issue with such a ramp-up in
production comes with the fact that EA's DICE studio will need constant
access to the sets of the movies, as and when they're being built or
changed. Such a rapid rollout of games and movies doesn't always sit
well together (just look at 99% of all movie tie-ins) as content is
forever being changed, sets tweaked and costumes altered.
For
2015's Battlefront, a process called 'photogrammetry" allowed the
developer to take hundreds of photos of everything used in the actual
movies, or the nearest replicas, leading to the 'photo-real' look of the
game. If that's the intention going forward, you can bet it's one hell
of a complicated schedule to work out, just in service of a game and
movie combo arriving every year.

It feels like we're been waiting forever, but Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is finally out, and unsurprisingly, critics and fans alike are proclaiming it an action masterpiece with unexpected emotional depth.
Whether or not you agree it reaches the heights of Uncharted 2, it's nevertheless a game full of jaw-dropping moments, getting more mileage out of the PS4 than any previous release, creating what's surely the most technically mind-boggling console game to date.
There's no doubt it's already an extremely strong contender for all the Game of the Year awards, and continues to emphasise Naughty Dog's impeccable knack for cinematic action storytelling. I love it.

Does This DOOM Easter Egg Mean A New Quake Game Is Coming?
We're currently experiencing something of an old-school first-person
revival in 2016 - one that's gathering immeasurable speed thanks to
Battlefield and Call of Duty battering each other over who's going to
rule Christmas.
Games like the underrated Shadow Warrior and now Bethesda's resurrection of both Wolfenstein and Doom across the last two years (the founding pillars of first-person shooting, no less) have led to a renaissance of all things twitchy and hyper-violent.
To that end, DOOM is currently riding a wave of nostalgia and newly-found positive reception thanks to being a hands-down brilliant shooter, but there's a small easter egg tucked away in your character's customisation options, that could lead to yet another landmark franchise returning in the near future.
Said easter egg is a patterned armour option showing the legendary Quake logo, which you'll unlock as you play through the multiplayer modes. Now, out of sheer wishful thinking, I'm hoping this means iD Software are at least thinking about another entry in the franchise.
Wolfenstein, DOOM and Quake are the premiere original shooters, and to the 90s generation, Quake was their DOOM. An arena-based blaster that dove headlong into 3D environments and helped us get to grips with how to move through 3D space, like DOOM, it's a name that every gamer knows, and will have varying degrees of affinity for.

5 Ways DOOM Is The Perfect First-Person Shooter
Unapologetic, violent and in-your-face. Those are all words that
could be used to describe the DOOM franchise. Anyone who has ever
blasted their way through a first-person-shooter must know that the
series acts as a father-figure to the entire genre. Without DOOM, much
of what has defined the FPS wouldn't exist.
There's still something immensely satisfying about firing up the original game. That heart-pounding music, instantly listenable despite the MIDI-like quality, is only enhanced by the wealth of atmosphere. That feeling players got when first playing DOOM is something id Software want to re-imagine this new version.
Released on Friday, May 13, the latest iteration of the infamous franchise has modern technology on its side. Instantly, the game evokes that same no-frills aura, one that at once feels drenched in retro yet somehow still as relevant as ever.
DOOM is back, and it's not just content to sit on the sidelines and watch as young pretenders sit on the throne.
Brutally fun modern-day shooter experience DOOM is now available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. For more information visit www.doom.com.
id have revolutionised their own experience, and here's why you should be truly excited to obliterate monsters into a bloody mess all over again...

Pokemon Sun And Moon: 10 Things Fans Demand
Despite the fact it's 2016, and people all over the internet are
earning an actual living from saying things like "oh did you see that
dragon on Game of Thrones, that was a good dragon wasn't it?", there's
still a bit of a worry that playing certain video games makes you look a
bit... well, childish. But best of luck finding anyone on planet earth
who's currently less bothered about that fact than me at the moment
though, because Pokemon's back and, sweet baby Christmas, it feels so
good.
We don't know much about Sun and Moon yet though. We've got our starters and legendaries, which all look very encouraging, and we've got that it'll be a tropical location available to buy in November of this year. Beyond that, very little.
The last iterations of the game, (both the originals X and Y, and remakes Omega and Alpha) toyed about with a lot of new features without ever really presenting a significant step forward. At a time when the franchises is starting to face serious competition from open world and MMO games, the developers have but a few months remaining to get things right.
Thankfully that's still plenty of time for Nintendo and Game Freak to make a raft of excellent tweaks to the game. Possibly based on the suggestions I'm going to put forward over the next 2000 words. Rest assured they are both numerous and brilliant.
